Carpenter Apprentice 1-4

Entry Level

Under General Supervision, responsible for carpentry project completion. Constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures of wood, steel, plywood, wallboard, siding, and various other materials, using hand and power tools. Performs routine carpentry, framing, masonry, drywall, and finishing.

Minimum Qualifications or Standards Required to Perform Job Functions

  • Must be able to Physically operate a variety of machinery and equipment including table saws, drills, hammers, planers, tape measure, level, etc.

  • Ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information. includes receiving instructions, assignments or directions from supervisors.

  • Ability to read a variety of correspondence, blueprints, etc. Requires the ability to speak to people with poise, voice control, and confidence.

  • Ability to utilize mathematical formulas; to add and subtract; multiply and divide.

  • Ability to inspect items for proper length, width, shape, height, volume.

  • Ability to handle a variety of items such as carpentry equipment.

  • Ability to accept all responsibilities of the job and assigned tasks.

  • Ability to keep focused on understanding, anticipating and responding to the needs of customers.

  • Ability to accept change and new information and cope with job pressure and stress.

  • Ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships.

  • Ability to demonstrate technical proficiency in areas of responsibility.

  • Ability to take a long-term view of the H. Pacific Construction’s direction and articulate a vision which integrates key goals, priorities, and values.

Carpenter Apprentice 1

Location: Varies

Reports to Foreman/Project Manager

Job Tasks:

  • Gathers material to be used.

  • Erects, moves, and works from scaffolding and ladders'.

  • Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe clean environment.

  • Measures and marks for cutting.

  • Checks accuracy of work with levels, rulers, measuring tape.

  • Shape or cut materials to specified measurements.

  • Install structures and fixtures, such as windows, doors, frames, floorings, foundations and trim, or hardware using carpenter’s hand or power tools.

  • Finish interior and exterior surfaces of woodwork or wallboard in houses and buildings.

  • Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace.

  • Cleans and maintains inventory of equipment, tools and supplies.

  • Performs all other duties as required.
